Started a game yesterday for the first time and our multiplayer session consisted of turns that seem to not be updated properly in time on each users side. When talking to my friend on discord, I told him its his turn and he would tell me that he was about 2 turns behind waiting for it to update. I am not sure what was going on, because we had zero lag. Turns/rounds seemed stuck, as if in a deadlock. And then eventually they would move minutes later. Yet, on my screen I was way ahead and his character was unresponsive. He had 2 black/white squares over his head (what is this?).

Eventually my screen went black at some point at the end of combat and we gave up. We figured we would wait 1-2 weeks for some of the big hotfixes.

Hello. There seems to be some strange de-syncing going on between the host and the other players. Not really sure what causes it.

As for the black/white squares, that indicates that the player is in a dialogue. Sometimes after talking to someone or something those boxes will stay over their heads. I've found that if you notice it, tell them to talk to an npc or something and leave the conversation. That usually fixes it for me.

Hi. Lots of reports of similar behaviour here and on Steam forum. For my party of four, we had massive latency issues that I tracked down to being caused by the game saturating the upload of my fibre link (I was the host of the game) @ 14Mb/s. This explains why things looked fine for me but massively laggy for my mates. We've given up on BG3 for now until this is resolved as clearly no game should be using so much bandwidth and still expecting to be playable.

Larian is aware of the multiplayer issues and hopefully a hotfix will be coming soon, because right now multiplayer is unplayable.
