I've got to say I'm loving this game so far. Just had an awesome experience and wanted to share. Spoilers ahead for some side story stuff near the blighted village.

I've been exploring a little north of the blighted village. I found a travelling caravan that had been attacked by gnolls. I find a notebook within the wreckage that explains the chest they are carrying should not be opened, or you will die. Someone is obviously very precious about the contents of this chest so I MUST get my hands on it. I can't see this chest anywhere near so I follow the blood and carrion up the hill where more gnoll are located. I start to kill my way through the group. A gnoll looks up at me with hunger in his eyes. I manage to convince him to feed upon his companions and help me. People from within the cave notice me. They decide not to help. So I continue killing and when the group is done, the hungry gnoll comes up to me. His face showing his hunger has yet to be satisfied. Using the powers of my tadpole I manage to convince him he can eat himself. He's dies in front of me choking on his own blood. Now the gnoll have gone the people come out of the cave. I wasn't going to be easy on them to begin with, but I surely won't now they've proven how weak they are. After a short conversation I agree to take the chest from them, sell it to a fence they know in the city, and share the profits. Suckers. Astarion comes to me excited about when we're going to open the chest. I take the chest and find a place to make camp for the night. Greeting the always happy to see me scratch the doggo. Love petting him every time I arrive. I place the chest down and get to work on breaking open the lock. I NEED to know what's being guarded. Inside I find an iron flask. Curious. I press my thumb against the cork, pop, it opens. Battle commences. A beholder. A spectator. Scratch sees the enemy threatening his friend. Instantly comes to guard me and fight by my side. Unfortunately this creature is too great. The spectator shoots beams towards scratch, and he goes up in flames. Scratch was a good doggo. The best doggo. Now his burnt body is in my camp every time I visit to remind me of my greed. Of my curiosity.

I needed to share. Hope you enjoy the game as much as I am currently!

Oh I like this. Reminds me of Moridor's box, only less deadly.
