Hopefully this is just part of EA, but right now the character creation (actual skills and stats not how we look) seems a little on the rails. Give us the option to go through and pick everything we want as we would in tabletop. Allow us to select which ability score system we want to use (personal fan of 4d6 keep best 3), let us pick skills and feats (not overly familiar with 5e so basing some of his on the good ol' days of 1st and 2nd ed.) make us roll for starting coin and buy items (or at least choose starting weapons/armor).

Right now it seems that every class starts off basically the same and can't be personalized.

Larian said they were still working on the other ways to get your stats (Point Buy, Standard Array, Rolling). Also, you can choose what skills you want, those are your class skills that you get to choose from. The skills you gain from your background are set, just like in 5e, although what is missing is the ability to create a custom background so you can select your own starting skills.
