Combat often feels like the enemies play DOS3 while I play BG3... wink

Seriously, a typical round would be:
When my group attacks 2-3 of 4 tend to miss, while the remaining always do low-damage rolls.
And only if an enemy has 1 HP left, then the game allows for crits or high-rolls, of course after the first 2 of my team have missed again.
85% hitchance? Enjoy your 3rd miss in a row.
At the same time, enemies set half my group on fire the first turn, they would probably even do when throwing water balloons. Though they also miss sometimes I think they do high-damage rolls far more often and enjoy their regular crits every third attack.
And as a bonus they outnumber your group quite often.
Also, while I'm stuck with basic armor and weapons, enemies enjoy their fire arrows even at the lowest levels.
This makes combat quite exhausting.
And forces a lot of long rests that actually storywise should be avoided at all cost as you never know when the mutation strikes...

And I'm not even referring to the bugs in combat:
Enemies that gain opp attacks even when you directly approach them; enemies gaining opp attacks in close combat, even if another enemy is inbetween; enemies being out of range for close combat though you directly stand in their face. And my favorite: Your character attacks and enemy but instead the enemy attacks you, love that!

And, as my personal opinion:
I really hopes BG3 would not be DOS3 with its over the top combat, where half the battlefield explodes each round just because! So I was kinda disappointed when poison still made large lakes which burst into fire as every enemy is master is firecombat.
I mean, in DOS there was this secret guild of barrel makers, which had the secret goal to travel the whole world in order to place lots of random barrels filled with dangerous liquids just everywhere. I'm pretty sure that was the untold sub-plot of all DOS games.
