Hi there...I just bought the game yesterday(absolutely LOVED the original btw) and I've since installed 1.4. Well today I get to my first trade with that imp and I find some stuff I like, but when I try to "balance" the trade. It just dumps 515 gold into the trade from my side. Nomatter how much is needed, it puts 515 gold in there(which doesn't help at all and I can't add to it).

So of course I can't continue(that's my stuff man!) as I can't buy anything. I'm a bit PO'd right now so I apologize if I seem a bit brash, but dang...that's a pretty damn big bug imho (I used to test IE at ms and we wouldn't let that crap out in public). I'm thinking that maybe reworking the buy system in the last patch created this new bug? Wasn't it tested?

I won't even add how easy it would have been to make it a redundant system and give people work arounds for such bugs. I'm not able to manipulate my gold manually in the trade interface. It seems to rely on the balance button. Am I wrong here? If you put my personal gold-pile in my inventory I could designate the amount of gold manually(simple subtraction) but no, it seems to rely on the balance system that doesn't work at all for me. Just a bit frustrating after thirty mins of quickloading to get that perfect load of goodies to claim Ah crap, I went and added that anyway. Sorry.

ahhh, ok I vented. Plz exuse me...now, onto what is important.

My question is does the new patch(install two patches in two days the day after buying new game, gg) fix this particular problem. Is this a known issue or is it not known and I have some local corrupted file. Maybe I just need to reinstall the game(plz no). I'm going to install 1.4 now to test it and will follow up post. I know I could've done that first but I wanted you guys to know about my problem. More information is better right? Especially if it gives me a chance to vent my frustration!

Have a good day!

Jim
Seattle, WA..USA!

p.s. I'm watching the congressional hearings regarding the POW abuse of Iraqi prisoners by american guards so that might have something to do with my level of irritation. I'm a proud american and I'm stunned that the actions of a few inbred idiots can impact a nation as a whole in such a way. I'm also stunned that we have such inbred idiots representing us in the first place.

Thanks for your time, sorry bout the political statement.

did I say I LOVE your games? This one looks great, can't wait to continue. I really appreciate your work and time. I further apologize for my ranting, it is just a showstopper bug for me and that was kinda surprising.

Cheers, Jim

You aren't alone in that, Britain is going through a similar time at the moment, although there's a lot of scandal surrounding our problems. It really hits a nerve to see so much hate directed at your country. As for the comments on your inbred idiots... everyone get's them, over here the scandal is caused by soldiers selling stories to newspapers. How sick can you get, endangering your fellow troops just for a few thousand pounds?

Anyhow keep smiling, best not to get depressed but to show support right?

snaus, what version are you running? Version 1.42 is out and it's recommended that you upgrade if you haven't already.

You should be able to click on a pile of gold and specify how much to transfer, though that is much slower than the balance button. I never ran into this problem or have seen it mentioned, so hopefully the patch will fix things up.

If not, before resorting to a re-install, try deleting the files in the dynamics folders;
'..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act1\Dynamic', '..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act2\Dynamic', etc.
These folders are used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied to those folders when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Beyond Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.
