I have recruited Shadowheart, Gale, Astarion and Lae'zel in this order. My party was full so I've sent Lae'zel to the camp.
As a mage I decided to swap Gale with Lae'zel, so I went to the camp and talked to gale to dismiss him.
Chose the dialogue option that he should stay in the camp for a while and both characters got locked in the conversation window.
I could still "jump" to other characters and move around but my character and Gale stayed locked in conversation.
All I could do is to go to main menu and turn off or reload the game.
