If you can only use one at a time -_-, a total opposite of DOS games.

Help me understand...

PS: One might actually say "it's all about choices & consequences", but what fun is it to have only one action per round and not being able to utilize your character potential... ( I have 0 knowledge of DnD system, sorry ).

I hope they will create a Lone Wolf mode, where you get 2 actions per round or an extra action every other turn.

Because 1 turn is 6 seconds. You can only do so much in 6 seconds.

The mechanics are totally different. In DOS you had cooldown and AP mechanics so everything was available for every fight. No so in D&D - more powerful stuff can only be used a certain number of times between short or long rests.

You might have e.g. 5 spells that you know and have memorized, but only 3 spell slots, so you can really only cast 3 of those.
Additionally after you use them up, you can't just use them in the next fight, but have to go rest, which can't happen every 5 minutes, so basically you don't have as many spells as you might think.
At first it's even a bit too few, but later it gets great, and you'll appreciate it too one day.

having more spell slots then spells does mean you can put some spells aside for situational use

It's just how DnD works. Casting multiple spells or throwing out some 20-sword-slash-combo in a 6 second interval isn't going to happen without some magical enhancement to your speed.

I mean, that's literally the point. Games that let you stack actions and abuse how that system works to get even more benefit so that you can just arbitrarily annihilate the opposition aren't fun. Not to me anyway.
I like being forced to make an intelligent decision every single round. The variety of spells are necessary because your choices matter. It wouldn't make sense to only have a handful of skills to use in a system where you can typically only make one action per turn.

I don't want to fall to bits 'cos of excess existential thought.

Well, you have a bonus action and an action besides your movement. That´s plenty for a 6 second interval of combat.
There are great tactical and fun uses of the bonus action, many more in the game where you can jump and shove as a bonus action. It´s even worse in PNP =D

the camping systems in the game are broken anyways so you wont be using many of them at all so don't worry about it.

First, while the game is made by Larian, and they have added a little of their flavour to it, it's still NOT a DOS game, it's a D&D5E game.
In D&D, first level characters are weak as hell. You have very few options and very little differentiates you from other characters. Everyone has 1 action, 1 bonus action, and their movement in their "6 second" turn. Again, at first level there is very little you can do with that. As you progress, you start being able to do more with that. It's still 1 action, 1 bonus action, and your movement, but higher level characters can do much more in that framework. For instance, fighters will be able to multiattack for their 1 action, and thieves get their "cunning" action which gives them more options with their bonus action.

Truth be told, you actually have a bit more power at first level in this than you do in the P&P right now.
