Never met the guy, probably skipped some content? I meet Volo in the druid's camp and he calls me "my good friend" as if there had been a previous encounter?
Think he does that in D&D pen and paper games as well. Volo is weird it could just be his typical greeting, a tactic to make you like him, or leave you wondering like he did.
