After playing with a group of 4 Users online yesterday attempting to load that same save is denying an invite from me to my Friends. When they see me in the Multiplayer Lobby it shows Players as 1/1 instead of 1/4. Is there a way to change the potential number of players back to 4? This happened to all saves from last night.

When at Sessions Screen I'm enabling Friends to join the match but the invites claim there are no open slots and it is up to me to add more slots.

Happening to me and my group of three tonight. One of my group member's had a crash, so we're attempting to group up again via multiplayer, and my group Lead is showing 1/1 and it's showing there are no open slots for us to rejoin the group. Both of us cannot connect to the Lead because it's telling us he needs to open up slots before we can group up.

We got this problem as well. party downed to 2 slots from 3 and we couldn't find any settings for changing it anywhere. Any solutions?

Want to add that we are seeing this too. Had all 4 players in just fine, then one of our players crashed, and now the lobby size appears stuck at three players. If i leave, my friend can join and then i cannot.

Edit: Also after completely leaving the session (everyone did) and restarting the game, the host started it back up and 3 of us joined just fine, the fourth person was told there are no playable character slots, even though i can control their character (who is currently assigned to me to control)

This error keeps happening. New 3-group, host set it at 4/4. When one player crashed early on they were able to get in.
When we all crashed because "Server shutting down" our host tried to return to game and 2 of us cannot rejoin as there are no "open slots" again. The game should recognize that we are the characters already in group and allow us to rejoin our saved session right?

Hopefully the devs see this and get a fix out soon.

Same here, getting "No controllable characters" error. Also lost a few saves after a companion got dialog-bugged at the end of our last session.

Anyone have any luck getting the session size back up to 3 (or 4)?

Im also having this issue. We just finished the first prologue (the ship) and reloaded a save since my party messed up and now only I (the host) can play and no one else can join.

Here is an email i got from the Devs about the Issue

We’re so sorry to hear you’re having problems in multiplayer. That’s especially frustrating when you’re playing with friends, because you’ve both taken the time to synchronize and hang out. We appreciate you taking even more time to write to us.

What you’ve described is a known issue. We are aware multiplayer has a few issues at the moment and Team Larian are working hard on fixing them. The good news is that many of them will be solved in Hotfix 2 which we have already released, with the rest following. Here's some information on Hotfix 2: http://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=681702&an=82&gonew

If this still hasn't helped here's a few tips to help avoid issues in multiplayer:
- Avoid switching the character roster while other characters are in cut-scenes, and save frequently so you have a fallback.
- Try to avoid listening into a conversation that's just ended in multiplayer
- If using OBS with a friend to record, use DX11 mode
- Try to avoid clicking rapidly through dialogues
- Avoid manually saving directly after combat
- Avoid entering into dialogues at the same time when very far apart from each other
- Avoid connecting/joining the game while a character is in dialogue
- Avoid players disconnecting during combat (it's never on purpose, we know!)
- Use quicksaving rather than manual saving in multiplayer (F5)

The good news is we are aware. We’re listening, and even if your issue isn't fixed in this Hotfix, know we are still working on it.

Thank you,

Last night my group ran into this issue. We found that fast travelling back to camp helped reset things and opened up a the character slots back to 4 players. I can't say that it's a 100% reliable work-around, but is worth a try if you're experiencing this issue.

I've had sorta the opposite problem....I play with my bestie; who hosts.

Our most common glitch is when returning to a saved game, that I will be in control of the NPC formerly attached to my character and my bestie will be controlling his character and all the NPCs
Sometimes I'm in control of the NPC who was formerly attached to my character and he's in control of "me", his character and "his" NPC.

The fix that most often works is to go to camp, dismiss all NPCs, I leave the game completely. Then rejoin and it's just the two of us, we then "recruit" the NPCs we want in our party. Yes, it is a total PITA.

At one point when I was trying to rejoin, the multiplayer display was showing him as host and 1/4 (we have NEVER had it as any more than just us 2). He left the game and we eventually got it resorted.

WHAT IS NEEDED:

-an IN GAME way to assign characters to players

As for the idea that one would use quicksave as opposed to Manual save is silly. The manual saves are the only place you can put a deliberate description/info, and if you later play solo, you will wipe all the multiplayer quicksaves due to the way the save setup has been done (which again, I would like to see improved).

Actually, if the "quicksaves" would include (and be linked to) the profile used, AND could be renamed (i.e. changed to Manual saves) it would solve a lot of problems.
