I got this after I patched to the newer version. What does it mean?

What version was your save before you patched and what version did you patch to?

Got the message when I patched to 1.41. Just patched to 1.42. I will find out tomorrow if it worked. Going to bed.

"IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PEOPLE WHO INSTALLED PATCH 1.41
Savegames made with patch 1.41 and which were upgrades from savegames made with patch 1.4 have been corrupted by patch 1.41 due to a problem with the upgrade system. You should not use these savegames anymore as more than likely you will run into big problems later on in the game.

However, if you started afresh with a game made in 1.41, you will not observe any problems. The problems only appear for savegames made in version 1.4 that were upgraded to savegames made in version 1.41."

Even though this says a fresh 1.41 save will be fine, there were many problems with that patch. I suggest starting fresh once you have 1.42 patched in.

i get the error in my quest log too. this is from a *fresh install* and 1.42 patch starting all over from the beginning. the error comes up after i complete the battlefield quests and then sell or get rid of the quest items.

Ugh! I started my game in 1.4, but didn't patch to 1.41 (or 1.42 for that matter) -- am I still going to be starting over?

If copying the inventory files worked like they did in Divine Divinity, I'd be less upset; my loot's the hard part to replace, and I'm just now getting happy with what I've collected...

Read the patch documentation, it sounds like going from 1.4 to 1.42 isn't too big of a deal, but I started over with 1.42 just in case personally...
