I finished my first play through. Not going into detail, but i wondered how quickly it was over.
On GameSpot Swen Vincke said the amount of content in early access would be about as much as the DOS2 full game.
I do not know if i skipped like 80% of the EA content but what i experienced was'nt even remotly as much as DOS2.

So is the "Early access content" growing with updates? Or will it not go beyond whats in the game right now?

I keep seeing this, where the QA thread isn't read.

They said they only gave us act 1 of 3.

Not sure what Swen said about EA being as big as full DOS2 game (link please?), but here's a summary of what EA contains vs what DOS 2 EA had:

Number of combat encounters: 22 in DOS2 EA vs. 80 in BG3 EA
Number of English dialogue lines: 17,600 in DOS2 EA vs. 45,980 in BG3 EA
Number of characters: 142 in DOS2 EA vs. 596 in BG3 EA
Number of spells/actions: 69 in DOS2 EA vs. 146 in BG3 EA
and around 25 hours of gameplay

Hi,

here is the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yecUvbMnkhM

first question, starting at around 00:15.
And that is not me mistaking, he said "you can compare it to DOS2 ammount of content and probably more is going to be in there".
after the interviewer asked again "thats early access or thats what you are aming for?"
swen stated "thats early access, the actual complete game is gonna be much bigger than that"

So BG3 early access at least as big as DOS2 complete is the statement.

Understanding now, we are not gonna get more content in EA is fairly disappointing tbh. "Thats not what i was promised for 60 bucks" to put it dramaticly.

I mean i would have bought the game anyways, but that statement is not even remotly true. Its faaar from true. I got 30 hours game play. i played one char till level 4, restarted with a new one and finished the EA at level 4 with this one aswell. round about 15 hors per char. fair enough, i probably missed a lot of things (im gonna play it over and over again) but on the otherhand i reloaded fairly often. In any way, for sure its absolutely WAY less than DOS2 full content.

No, he was comparing BG3 EA to DOS2 EA in the first statement and BG3 final game to DOS2 final game in the second.

He did not say that BG3 EA would be bigger than a 100+ hour game. That is ridiculous.

He has also said in other places that EA would be about 20 hours of content.

You misunderstood him.

Yeah, what @Warlocke said, you misunderstood what Swen said. He was comparing DOS 2 EA (without him actually using the word EA for DOS 2), with BG 3 EA. smile

Maybe he misspoke, but in no word, did he say he compared to DOS2 EA.
If that was on his mind, his clarifying statement "thats early access, the actual complete game is gonna be much bigger than that" would make no sense whatsoever. Ofcause the full game of BG3 will be bigger thatn DOS2 EA content. That was not the question, nor was it the answer. The question alone would be ridiculous and the answer obvious.

The question was clearly what ammount of content would be in BG3 EA and he clearly stated that its comparable to DOS2 full game, even clarifying it. If he meant DOS2 EA for comparison, he would have not made the second statement for obvious reasons. well. but question answered i guess. I then hop acts 2 and 3 will be significantly bigger than act 1^^

I know EA is basically a Larian welcome letter and a opportunity to provide feedback and test for some bugs, but are they going to implement stuff that are non story related like the variant rules for customization, the missing classes and so on so we can test before it goes gold?

"you can compare [BG3’s early access] to DOS2 [early access] amount of content and probably more is going to be in there".

"that’s early access, the actual complete game [of BG3] is going be much bigger than [the complete game of DOS2]"

English isn’t his first language, so he isn’t being as clear as he could be, but I had no problem ascertaining his meaning.

If BG3 EA was over 100 hours then the final game would be between 300 and 400 hours. That’s absurd.

Swen specifically said there is more content in BG3 EA than in Dos2 game but that is CONTENT overall that is not linear story progression. To see all the content you have to play the game multiple times doing different things.

As to the title there is more EA content to come. In the panel from hell video Swen specifically said there would be more classes added to early access, more companions, more races and more features to be added to EA.

This is not the entirety of the EA, you can't play EA in one go to see all the content because content is gated based on your choices, and some dialogue choices are very "edge case" so unless you do very odd things you'd never know the game would acknowledge your choices but they are in the game. What are they? I have no idea.

In that interview you are quoting context is key. He is saying BG3 EA has more content than DOS 2's. Now here is the key context he is referring to DOS 2's ea. He is comparing like to like.
