As a Beastmaster Ranger, I can't cast 'Animal Companion' or 'Find Familar' without it causing combat to initiate.

The only way to exit combat is for my party to kill the summoned creature (whether a companion or a familiar).

It wasn't like this for the first bit of the game. After making it to the outside of the crypt in the starting forest, and fighting the team there, I summoned my familiar and that initiated combat with the guy hiding on the other side of the door. It seemed that from there, summoning a creature would initiate combat.

I then decided to go Beastmaster and found that summoning an Animal Companion similarly initiated combat.

Thanks

Adding to this - I have the same issue.

Every animal my ranger conjures commences combat with my own party (while being controllable) and the only way to fix it is to kill it. Resummoning, reloading save, long resting doesn't fix it.

EDIT2: Update: I've followed a few trails, but confirmed they're wrong. The only thing I can pinpoint is a specific location where it happens. I've also confirmed that it can happen to a warlock's pet.

i'm having the same problem on my side.

The only thing I found about that situation is that all my companions/familiar are still present in the combat log even if they doesn't exist anymore

in addition to these I've run into an issue on my ranger where I suddenly do damage to everything I get close to, party members, items, npcs, etc. lost a lot of rep and got the druid camp hostile by doing it. a reload fixes the issue.

Same issue for me. Summon Animal Companion or Summon Familiar starts combat.

Also - adding a 5th NPC party member initiates combat as well.

Has this been fixed in anyone's game? I am still seeing it.

Joined the forum to report this exact bug because it was fairly major. It happens if I fight the goblins at the entrance of the camp and I engage in combat with the ones just inside - pretty much as shown in the above screenshot. Didn't happen to Wyll's imp; it was my ranger's raven that was registering as hostile. If I kill it, combat ends, but anytime I summon a familiar again, even outside of that zone, it registers as hostile. I can still control it, it is just flagged as hostile and will trigger an attack of opportunity if it moves out of melee range from any party member.

To add a bit more: if I end everyone's turn, and it comes back full circle, I can no longer end turns until the familiar is killed. In the little pop-up window that shows whose turns are done, two ravens appear.

I ended up just using the worm to make my way into the camp (and getting judged by Wyll...).
