True, we should at least have Chondathan, Illuskan and Calimshite, options... with regional languages and feats probably not being a thing, it would be purely cosmetical, but still. Maybe also let it impact starting gear?
Feats aren't ready for anyone yet. But I wouldn't mind Variant Human being in for the extra Skill Proficiency. I don't think they'll put it in without Feats, though.
