Hey its come up in a few other discussions i have been owner or party to.
but i just want to point out an inherent flaw in 5th edition, i would love to see you at larian be aware of and circumvent.
the normal accuracy of a lvl 1 adventurer is about 55%.
the normal accuracy of a lvl 11 adventurer has only increased to about 65%
Spell save DC's scale at the exact same speed or slower when considering monsters as you level up.
monk flurry attacks, and cantrip attacks do not get + to hit from any magic weapons in raw, dumpstering their accuracy as you get to higher levels.
5th edition can become a whiff-fest slog especially when you factor in many spells of the level variety 1-5 also require a successful spell attack which considers the targets FULL AC. Which means unlike better designed editions of d and d and its competitors, there is not so much of a rock paper scissors in the defense market. mages warlocks ect. cannot hit high fighter AC with their spell attacks and it only gets worse as you level due to +1-3 equipment scaling accuracy/defense as fast or faster than leveling does.
I think as a general rule when designing enemies and encounters i would probably crank down the AC and crank up something else instead(probably hp), and keep certain saves at a negative or lower, or put some way in the game to increase save DC's to keep pace with gear and leveling.
In a multiplayer rpg waiting for 3 other players to take thier turn just so you can wiff or death save is going to kill this game, i get that thats how 5th ed is designed to work, but its not as rewarding or enjoyable on a video game that is much faster paced and a lot less roleplay centric.
