I recently purchased DB, and I've been having fun. Although, that fun is waning quickly. I play a mage achetype character, and I've noticed as I gain levels (now 20) that I'm consistantly undermined. I have 71 int, and with that I've nearly ignored all other stats. With my current equipment I have 22 str, and 16 sta. Anyway moving on to the real point!
I feel that the skills are in dire need of rebalancing. I shouldn't have to dump all my points into int, to get a 1300 mana pool, and then blow that in 5 casts of a spell that is barely to par with my DK sword swing.
Some suggestions to help throw these skills in line:
--Scale back that mana costs!
--Increased Damage on spell effects.
(I know the above ideas have been suggested many times, so perhaps there is some merit to them)
Other Ideas include...items that modify spell effects, and items that add skillpoints to certain skills/skill trees
Another thing that bothers me, although not as much as the above. Is the lack of skill points. 1 per level with a bonus 1 ever 5 levels, just doesn't seem to cut it. It seems I sink all these skill points into specializing in 1 or 2 spells to get the most out of them that I can, and they hardly end up being worth the skill points and I'm left with nothing to back me up when those fail. Which seems to be often.
So finally, I want to stress that I think this is a great game, with fantastic potential if gameplay flaws like this are worked out.
Please Note: This is written from the mage character's point of view, and I haven't really experimented with the warrior or survival trees as much yet.
Thanks for listening,
Oth~
