I've got trouble trying to kill off the Shaman. What is the best way to go about this? What are his weaknesses, etc.

Shaman is a very difficult creature to beat and ive seen many ways to beat him. The way i did it was with my magician, i gave him the spell to take down enemy resistance and then i went after him with my fire spells till he died.

I was level 21 playing on the default difficulty when I went to face the shaman, the DK was set as a warrior/archer and I was warrior/one handed/slashing. I had little trouble killing shaman.
