I know because I was able to chuck enough exploding barrels at them to kill them all. I think you should get rewarded a bit more than that in exchange for killing a devil commander and his retinue at level one!

He drops a greatsword, by the way.

Zhalk isn't worth anything, and the Cambions are 50 XP each and the Illithid 60 or 80. Even if you skipped all the avoidable combat getting to them, its still enough to make level 2 when the ship touches down, which makes level three before the Druids, and level four right outside the Enclave.

It's enough

I was about to post this to the bugs section. Since I received no XP from defeating the Commander.

I agree with Deemer. My friend and I tried to complete this challenge of defeating the Commander, it was certainly disappointing to not be rewarded after it.

Although I acknowledge Distant Stranger's point that we get enough to still level up, but... It's a Devil Commander who can essentially one hit kill/down most level one characters, and the fact that we were able to still defeat it was in my opinion quite a feat. smile
I would certainly love to see the appropriate amount of XP represented. OR at the very least, some XP, since we got none for the fight.

Wait until you find the well. I don't want to give anything away, but a certain boss fight gives you 20 xp a piece. I think they nerfed xp rewards in EA to keep us low level. It gives them time to get the content ready for 5th level and above. I get it.

I wish it were a feat. I had to reload a couple times so that the illithid would stay alive long enough for me to get in position, but after that I just chucked exploding barrels (void pods or whatever) onto the battlefield until everything was dead.

I've been using that strategy everywhere, in fact. It's stronger than any serious build in the game so long as you keep a mage around to ignite the oil. There's basically infinite exploding barrels so you don't have to worry about running out of barrels before you run out of bad guys.
