Trying to read multiple texts is very tedious. That is to say, when you are in inventory and 'open' a letter your inventory closes and the letter is able to be read. In order to read another you need to reopen your inventory and repeat.
Imagine me, out on the trails, and I want to read a few things. I open my pack, take of the letter, close my pack buckle back up and read my letter. Then I need to reopen my pack to put it back and take out another? Naaaah. I would open my pack, read the one letter, swap it for another, and continue on until I am finished.
I would suggest the game behaviour would be as follows: Open Inventory. 'Read' contents and when literature is closed, go back to an open intevtory. repeat, or close inventory to carry on adventuring.
