Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - General Pickpocket & Merchants

Hi everyone
I read somewhere that you could steal from the merchants (a player claimed to have 12k gold somewhere in the forums). I cannot pickpocket the two merchants in the Druid/Tielfling area. Does anyone know how to do it? Also, are these the only two merchants in the game? Oh, and finally, (this is my second run through), do the merchants stock random items or are they fixed? (I can see at least one difference but maybe items open up as you progress).

Start a dialogue with your main, ideal from an angle that leaves traders back clear, before you choose the trade option switch to you best thief (Astarion for me)
put character in stealth and you should get the option to pickpocket. Each item has a d-roll score (top left) if you win the roll you steal the item. Beware once you have done this get the heck outta dodge or the trader will become hostile.

Once the Trader turns hostile is there any way to get them back?

yeah reload the save, I think the blacksmith is a little bugged too at the moment cause sometimes he will go hostile well after I am out of sight, but i use the same trick as Div steal gold, buy a couple of things, steal gold it keeps down the droll requirements
