I dont quite undestand why this is made a lv 2 feature? I am really enjoying the EA, but Im confused by the many small changes like this given how many times Ive seen repeated in interviews that BG3 is going to use 5e rules as faithfully as possible. I fully understand that some things just cant be implemented by 5e rules, like minor illusion is impossible to code to do what its capable of in pen and paper DnD. Moving the choice of fighting style to lv2 just seems weird, whats the point? To nerf multiclassing? To give players more say in Lae'zels build?

I concur. My hope is that this is specifically for the Early Access to give people a taste of the class archtypes and nothing like a final realization of the levelling system.

Is there even anything to nerf? Multiclassing in 5e is a very dead feature. It's nearly impossible to compliment character with multiple classes, to make him stronger, compare to maxing out a single class.

For some odd reason I thought it was level 2 in the rules but just checked and it is level 1, I would report it as a bug.

OK, Paladins & Rangers get fighting style at level 2, that what I am remembering. I expect the developer got confused like I did so I expect it's a bug.
