I really enjoy the ground effects from all the different spells/potions etc.
Having Cantrips have both ground effects and target damage at the same time is very OP. It should be one or the other..
All damage and effects with very few exceptions in D&D have a saving throw, roll to hit, or counter to them. Especially lower level spells/attacks... Magic Missle being one of those that doesn't.. But say hello to Shield Spell smile

All Ground Effects should last no more than 3 rounds unless stated by the spell/effect. Looking at you acid and poison...

We can already hit target enemies OR the ground. The effects from Cantrips should not do both at the same time. Most

Firebolt :You hurl a mote of fire at a creature or object within range. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 fire damage. If we target a creature-no ground effect occurs. If we target the ground- then ground effect- 1d4 damage per rd target is in effect- lasting 3rds with a Dex save each rd for none.

Ray of Frost: 1d8 Damage On a Hit and the Movement Reduction- If we target a creature-no ground effect occurs. If we target the ground- with blood/water etc. Then ice effect with a Dex save or Prone. It should not do both at the same time. Ice should last 3 rds and a save each rd for Prone.

Acid Splash: 1d6 Damage- Dex Save for none - The added -2 AC is a nice touch. Up to 2 creatures within 5ft of each other. - This is a Cantrip that can target 2 enemies at once. It should create a pool of acid in the space created. Then dissolve in 3 rds.

All spells/potions/arrows That do Elemental type Damage should do damage to either the target OR the ground effect for 3 Rounds.

Not both at the same time unless specifically stated by the effect.

That effect should be powerful- Cause it is if it is doing damage and stacking debuffs at the same time.
Doing Dot damage or multiple debuffs... Thats higher level than Cantrips....

Also please add more Tooltips to Spells and Abilities. The Durations, Range, Aoe, etc. How can we make informed tactical decisions if we don't know everthing about the abilities we have smile
