Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Cutscenes freezing.

1st instance when I have picked up the Necromancy of Thay book and try to read it each character says something and when it gets to Gale he says his piece and it freezes.

2nd instance of this Shadowheart has used the power once and the 1st time I try Go to camp it starts a cutscene when she says she something is wrong and as soon as she says Darkness Protect me... and it cuts to my main character it goes no further. No options to talk and the character is standing there. The screen is not frozen as he is moving his weight but no interaction can be made.

If I select another character I can see the campsite and control the new character but not interact with anything as the conversation between my character and Shadowheart is still ongoing. If I select either of those character it goes back to the frozen conversation with no options to say anything.

I have tried advancing quests on even with no resources left and trying again later with no effect. The characters have levelled since my 1st try and no change, I have tried using Vulkan and DX11 and the same thing happens. In the Campsite Gale has the ! over his hear to talk as well but I cant get past Shadowheart to speak to him again.

Both instances are stopping the game progressing.

I had the same problem. Please use "Space bar" on your keyboard. It will allow you to skip the bugged out issues in a cutscene and continue. I'm hopeful the developers will consider including this work-around in the notes when the game loads for others, as it's a common problem I'm finding. I found it quite frustrating myself as well.

i just had the same thing - you have a couple of options - hit number "1" key that brings dialogue options up (thats for the shadowheart one - unsure if it works in other freezes). Spacebar as mentioned - I found too if you select the "attack option" from the buttons on the bottom left of the screen (where you can change character too) - that bought me through to the camp as well.

Try the number 1 key first as it brings the dialogue options up which is what you really want .

I'm glad that someone posted the solution. I didn't think about hitting the spacebar. Like you mentioned, I can select other characters and walk around the camp, but I can't move forward the conversation.

That helped loads thanks and I have now managed to get a long rest that was badly needed
