So, I've tried to make it through this quest normally, and like a ton of other folks it's completely bugged. After making it through the hag's house of horrors and lowering Mayrina's cage, she wouldn't talk to me--dead quest. Taking this as license to save-scum, I managed to kill the hag in one turn (haste pot+wyvern poison+Astarion=too much damage). It allowed me to finish the quest that I at least attempted normally. However, the room with the mask wearer's is still a bit confusing. There's no hag to control their minds, but they still behave as though they are. I can't pickpocket the masks off them, and eventually they start attacking after enough knockout attempts. Do I just have to chance it and Knock them out anyway to save them? Is there a way to save them?

__Sidebar: non-lethal combat, I feel, should have alternative consequences. For instance, I knocked out Nottie to cure her poison attempt, but she remains hostile even after Halsin is returned to the druidic circle, which can potentially cause a player to accidently aggro every druid in the place while trying to collect the reward for rescuing him in the first place. I knocked her out specifically so I didn't have to kill her, but that choice receives no narrative or gameplay attention. She remains hostile and will every time I return to that area despite it being drastically altered by my actions...or at least she would have if I didn't accidently kill her with an attack of opportunity while attempting to knock her out the second time.

I have this issue too. I managed to get past the fumes(I dont know how to disable the fumes) and Mayrina was in the cage. Hag was nowhere to be seen. I lowered the cage but couldn't speak to her.

If you pre-kill the redcaps (wyvern poison is your friend here), you can safely attempt to nuke the hag in one turn (one attack if the rolls go right); you may have to do it this way. Losing the hours of progress to go back and attempt it this way sucks, but it let's you see the outcome of the quest.

I just finished the quest and I could talk to Mayrina. But I think I had a bug cause combat didn't trigger when I attacked the hag and so I could finish her in 2 rounds.

Where is the hag exactly?

She doesn't spawn in the bugged out version--she would be in the room with caged mayrina. If you start the whole quest over from an earlier save point, which I did, you can fight her in the first room before she disappears, but you have to NUKE her in order to stop her from going invis and running away.

The hag DOES spawn however in the cage room when bugged. She just doesn't get out of her invisibility and makes no effort to attack you. She's on the small plank bridge above the activation sphere thing. When you place some aoe effect over it (as in not actually creating the effect, but only placing with your mouse), you can see her red circle. I used a bugged prayer of healing scroll to find her, and then fire bolted her spot to make her drop the invisibility. She doesn't fight after that though, you can just backstab her repeatedly.
