Okay, so i found Halsin. Rescued Halsin, killed all the leaders. Story was suggesting to me go back to the grove and finish up this part of the quest. Plus need a long rest. So i do all that i party with the Tieflings, i finish conversations with Halsin. I romance ShadowHeart (she likes my lady Drow)

So from my conversations with Halsin, i need to go back into the temple and search for the entrance to the underdark, and possibly find the nightsong.

Now here is my problem, when i go back to the temp there are 15-20 goblins still there who trigger combat the instant i get close. It was my understand through the story and dialogue would be much more passive now that all their leadership was dead.

I have tried clearing that mob four times now, and there are just too many, that mobs has a combined hitpoint total well over 200 and they just run me out of spells and potions.

So did i just mess up hard on my playthrough, failed to do something correctly? didn't find a secret entrance? or is this just the way it is?

Because this mob/AI density was easily handled in DoS 2 but here under 5e rules its pretty effin brutal.

Thanks in advance.

There is two other ways to enter the Underdark besides the temple. And you can take the mountain path to skip underdark completly.

If you really want to use the temple entrance though, try stealth positioning you entire party in high ground and it should be a lot easier to kill the goblins.

have you tried dashing all your guys to the door? not the one with the big ogre but the 2nd story door. there is a back way you can take if you climb the ladder next to the waypoint that's much safer then charging through.

This. Utilize the terrain, it makes a lot of these encounters vastly less challenging.

Or, every time you encounter a barrel of firewine, acid, oil, or water send it to your camp and before encounters like this fill up Lez's inventory with them and set them strategically to annihilate. . .everything
