Your companions recommend you to not use the illithid's powers but what about in battle? Does using psionic powers allow the mind flayers more control or is it only if you're digging around in other people's heads?
I don't actually know about psionic power use but so far it seems that counters like that are only triggered by the cutscene choices. Maybe they're not just done implementing stuff or maybe it's just kinda shallow, I don't know.
But I mean it should definitely have consequences for combat use, otherwise that's a real narrative disconnect I think
