Maybe its too early in the development cycle to propose additional content, maybe there's even some untold agreement between wizard and larian not to implement optional 5e features before release in a sourcebook. But i like them and i hope we can at least have a debate around it.

this playtest material from tabletop present quite a score of variant rules, most of them falling within the realm of class feature variation and/or expansion. Some of them are broken, some of them are flavour, not all of them can reliably be translatend to a videogame. But i think a few of them considerably expand player options at character creation and early game development without breaking the balance. Here are my favorites that i hope they'll see the light of day

Proficiency Versatility
4th-level and higher feature (enhances Ability Score Improvement)
Whenever you gain the Ability Score Improvement feature from your class, you canalso replace one of your skill proficiencies with a skill proficiency offered by your class at 1st level(the proficiency you replace needn’t be from the class). This change represents one of your skills atrophying as you focus on a different skill.

once selected at char creation skills are set in stone and its really difficult to select new ones on the run. Some multiclass options and some classes enable skill selection at some point, but multiclassing for the sake of skills alone aint somethin everyone is willing to do.
This feature gives you 1 free swap along ability score improvement, and you select from the pool of your first class skills. Feature pacing is good and limitations reasonable

Cantrip Versatility
1st-level druid feature (enhances Spellcasting)
Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one cantrip you learned from this Spellcasting feature with another cantrip from the druid spell list

I took this option from the druid section, but Cantrip Versatility is given for all full-casters (cleric, wizard, sorcerer, warlock). Reasons expressed above apply here: once chosen cantrips are forever, now they can be selected and swapped on level up. Side note: this feature is separate from "swap 1 spell know" feature, you can have both

Blessed Warrior (Paladin fighting style)
You learn two cantrips of your choice from the cleric spell list. They count as paladin spells for you, and Charisma is your spellcasting ability for them. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of these cantrips with another cantrip from the cleric spell list.

Druidic Warrior (Ranger Fighting style)
You learn two cantrips of your choice from the druid spell list. They count as ranger spells for you, and Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for them. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of these cantrips with another cantrip from the druid spell list.

This is my favourite. For balancing purpouse half casters (paladin and ranger have a spellcasting progression at 1/2 the rate of full-casters) were not given cantrips. This way you sacrifice quite good weapon enhancing fighting styles (like Archery, Defense or Dueling) for more magick taken from druid and cleric list: flavourful and balanced
