I've just finished early access! I can't wait for the next patch/update.

I spent all weekend playing it. Such fun.

I'll update my thoughts in due course.

My party consisted of the following level 4 heroes - and you'll notice that I didn't use a "pure mage":

- Battle Master - Lae'Zel
- Thief - Astarion
- Cleric (Trickery Domain) - Shadowheart
- and my main hero - "Coffee" a Ranger (Beast Master)

Tips:

- Make use of the "throw skill" i.e. fire potions to engulf/bomb your enemies area
- Use fire a lot
- Keep your range hero/supports constantly jumping out of battle/stun range
- Use the Spider Companion - it rocks - web+fire = gg
- Make sure you tank up your meatshield as much as possible i.e. Lae'Zel in my case. I spent A LOT of gold on her, i.e. the flashy helm that prevents critical hits.
- Arm everyone with a bow if you can, sometimes you need to hit enemies at range.

TIPS FOR THE DEVELOPERS [TO BE UPDATED]

EA is capped all level 4, so "only" level four was bad wording if you happened to know this. Congrats smile Still haven't finished it myself yet.

I am using Wyll, Gale (abjuration), Asterion (thief) and my main is a wood elf melee cleric (life) using finesse weapon and a shield as tank.

It was so much fun. Haslin, one of the NPCs you meet later on, is my dream hero. He's able to transform himself into a bear and he's tanky as hell. And a mini-mage on the side.

I didn't quite reach the heights of Haslin (because we're pretty restricted in early access), but I did get to test the ranger/beast master.

It's fun - I like the idea of summoning a meatshield/cute pet that I can stand behind, which soaks up damage, allowing me to gun down my enemies from afar.

I would definitely recommend it if you like this kind of style.

NB. I believe I picked Elf. My detection skills were very useful in this team for night vision etc.
