Already mentioned it before, when just saw first playthrough on youtube. It's the same as in P&P D&D, rolling openly and revealing results of perception check will only lead to metagaming. In P&P players will take notice they missed something, and will tediously will try to rediscover it. In CRPG that will simply lead to savescamming.

Solution is pretty much the same as in P&P rpg - passive perception.
10 + wis + PB (if proficient in perception). If it's high enough - it will automatically reveal secrets. If not - players should not know about check been made at all.

If player suspicious some part of dungeon (or otherwise) might contain a secret - he might attempt either active perception check, or investigation check. But even then game should not inform player on whenever check was failed, or there simply wasn't anything in there.

Agreed... I mean, since there no longer is an automatic, active perception in 5e, this roll shouldn't even be happening to begin with.

Hard agree here, I hate missing things so when I know I missed something I feel so pressured into savescumming. I'd like an option to turn off showing failed passive checks at least

Seems like a good idea. Passive perception should really be a thing. And displaying a perception check that failed when it pertains to a hidden object is kind of like your character stopping to notice that he didn't notice anything.

What do we have here?! Ah, just as I suspected. It was nothing. Sure caught my eye though.

Youtube and mods for you then. Both vanilla D&D and gaming overall specifically have hidden tasks like that.

Plus DOS 1,2 had pretty much passive checks only on secrets. So Larian actualy had it right before. Weird why they ignore default D&D rules in BG3 for that.

Yes please!!

Passive perception would be such a needed addition. I failed a few perception checks for traps, and it's so akward, it's like I am supposed to walk into the trap even though I know it's there or do I metagame and avoid it.

Also passive perception would leave less secrets and interesting stuff to RNG
