Have you tried reinstalling? It seems something went wrong and now your configuration file is either corrupt or non-existant...

If that doesn't help. Look on your cd for dust or scratches. And run a full scan on your disk to see that it's in fully working order. You might have a few bad sectors on your drive or something.

Before reinstalling, try running the configuration program and hitting the reset button.

This is very weird. Maybe someone can send you the configuration file by email, if it's not too big. Unfortunately I don't know which file that is... Raze is the know it all around here so... Raze, any ideas?

You get the same error trying to reset the configuration?
I would have thought a clean reinstall (deleting any remaining files outside of the savegames folder after uninstalling, to make sure nothing was carried over) would have fixed this.

Try deleting, or renaming, the config.div and slashed.cfg files from the Beyond Divinity folder.

without wishing to butt in, and knowing raze among others know a crapload more than i, i DO know that for some people the config.div doesn't come up correctly because it's being interpreted as a DivX movie file.
the fix would require NOT having your divx movie player set to be the default for running *.div(x) files.
an alternative is utilizing a hex editor to open the file and set resolution manually (like many of us did to attain 1280x1024).
or...
perhaps starting the game and then shutting down your computer. this would pop-up the message 'BD was shut down incorrectly, would you like to run configuration again' (or something along those lines)
