The way the game feels right now, it's like the DM ran a single 1-shot. Then decided to run a campaign. Even with 4 characters, two being clerics. The game feels extremely difficult.
This is combined with terrible rule additions that don't function with 5e makes combat horrible. I like the game but the balancing in combat is some of the worst I've experienced in a while.
If you won't lower the number of enemies there are, I'd allow having 2 more characters in your party. Health and AC don't make everything but it makes a big difference when toyed within larger
quantities. So adding more allies is not a bad choice.
(IMHO).

I personally found it fairly easy and would like it to be substantially more challenging. With that being said, I expect that their attempts to balance the game have not been done yet, as there is only a single difficulty and part of the EA process will probably be gathering data to use to balance the various fights. My guess is, there will be a much easier and a much harder difficulty.

Clerics really aren't very good in combat to be honest... sacred flame rarely hits and they don't wield strong weapons.

That's like saying "I have a party of four wizards, but I keep dying." Well no duh lol. Wizards don't wear any armor and typically have low dexterity.
Make sure you are using your spells slots, eating food to heal your party, using potions. The game literally throws food and potions at you.
And don't attack a group of three enemies if you only have 2 party members...

Lesson: the more diverse array of classes in your party, probably the better
