Attempted using Astarion

I have tested this for a couple of hours straight with no success.
When you pickpocket Dammon in the Hollow, no matter what item you take and succeed with, he claims he has been pickpocketed (just like other NPC's) and then immediately calls the guards on you with no dialogue option to "escape" with. I have tried taking the hardest to get and the easiest to get items and then hiding out of LOS around a cliff edge and he still becomes hostile and the guards get called and start attacking the party.
I thought this may be a positioning thing but I am behind him like other NPC's and I am outside all LOS cones and it still happens every time after a successful pickpocket, it seels that all other NPC's behave normally and open dialogue, meanwhile he goes hostile.

Can confirm, had this happen to me twice before too before I gave up trying to steal. I'd steal, it'd be successful, I'd book it out of there, then the guards would jump me even though I was ages away by the time he realised his stuff was gone
