Before you say its a machine issue, am ruuning game on a £5k Alienwarre

Yeah there are a few mobs in particular that have this issue, such as Rikka and the tieflings around her in the druid cove. It was way worse before the first hotfix, though... It would happen with literally every mob in a big battle. It made that druid cove and goblin camp take quite some time to clear....
