Game is ok. I always appreciate the work and effort devs put into these games. I am enjoying the music and the storyline. And I know there is a lot of stuff working under the hood that makes it feel like D&D. But, I am slightly disappointed. I would have expected more.

I'd like the communities opinion on how is it better than 2009 dragon age of origins? For 2020, it feels not much improved and more of a throw back.

I actually agree and feel that DAO was superior, and still the closest modern game that was similar to BG1&2.

But you need to remember that LArian have to work with what WOTC allow for D&D licensing, and as such it has to be based on the latest rule set which is going to differ a lot from other games including its predecessors.

Didn't get a chance to try BG3 myself, but for one dialogue checks aren't governed by a single ability. That's a plus. Hopefully, combat system will be far better as well. But then, I for one, found DA:O to be a great disappointment.

It is EA and probably 20% of the content, but I am seriously impressed with the game so far. D&D rules make games special almost without exceptions and here we have a very honest attempt at 5e implementation. Something that to mu knowledge has never been done yet.

I'm not necessarily sure if thats positive.

I've ended up using 16 each in INT, WIS and CHA on a Helf Wizard with only 10 left in CON, just so I can deal with most of the ability checks, but at level 4 he only has 18 HP.

I'm hoping that there will eventually be gear that can raise stats to compensate, and also I would feel very compelled to eventually play a Bard just for their social abilities.

I have less inclination to play a fighter or such classes that wouldn't handle social skills well.

The fun part is in BG3 you get a helmet that sets your int to 18 from anywhere right at the beginning. So, you could roll a really dumb wizard here, assuming you can get him to that point in the story.

Really? I've not found that helmet yet. If it exists I could increase Con a lot more and dump Int.

OH, it comes from
that clever Ogre, but I've been keeping him as an ally but never actually used the warhorn yet.

Dumb wizard would really hurt my roleplay though, so trickster will get it instead and mage will go for 21 Int with hag bit and level 4. All of this hoping for some cool wizard gear later in the game.

This game is so much better than ok = it’s not trying to be dragon age it’s D&D and the implementation at this stage is great

DA:O and the whole DA franchise is super linear compared to any DnD CRPG out there. So it is not a very apples to apples comparison.
