Okay I played a Halfling Rogue (Thief) through the whole EA. Good fun, looking forward to future developments. However, throughout the lengthy play period I never once noticed if Lucky ever activated. I'm sure it's going on in the background somewhere in there, I got a critical miss once so I had to have rolled a 1 twice in a row. Since the halfling racial features are so bare otherwise and they get to be slower than everyone else we need to kick this presentation up a notch.
I get Lucky, I want to know it and I want to world to know it. I need a rainbow to burst over my miniature protagonist and a shower of shamrocks on the d20, and yes this also applies both during and after sex scenes. When other less lucky species get their critical failures I need halfling specific chipper callouts bemoaning the poor unfortunates lack of fortune with an oozing smugness. I'm deploying this advice now and early so that you can get started on the proper special effects for the those kissed by kismet and grant them the powerful shorty grandeur they deserve.
Also Halfling Nimbleness in some form would be pretty dang nice considering the country mile you have to run to around to the ass side of a ogre without the pathfinding borking up and mysteriously handing your oversized opposition an opportunity attack. Yeah I know jump exists, I don't want to use it here, I want to use my offhand strike or drink a potion or something.
Otherwise, love it all. A worthy appetizer until the clear and inevitable announcement of playable kobolds.
Edit: And I would like to clarify this is not something I say entirely in jest. Halfling's don't get anything flashy, the most outright useful thing is their bonus stats and maybe the strongheart poison resistance. When Lae'Zel gets to leverage her strength mod and the spells she gets just for being a githyanki to leap across the field in a single turn and be primed to axe ranged opposition a question I'm keenly aware of her cool racial benefits. Other races get weapon proficiencies and useful skills and night vision and outright SPELLS.
The halfling feature list is empty enough that if you don't know that your Lucky, odds are you have nothing mechanical to show for race selection other then not getting to run as fast.
