I'd love to see currency represented in the full range of D&D coins. At the very least silver, gold, and platinum.

Also, why does it have to take up an inventory slot?
I think something like WoW's model for currency would be almost ideal.

You asking more realistic currency model, but also complain about it taking space? You know, 10,000 coins takes lots of space.... and actually damn heavy (much heavier than it's represented in game).

You're right, regarding realistic use of space. Of course.

My thoughts however, mostly pertain to flavour and convenience. The inventory is already crazy busy with fruit, garlic (?), a million keys, books, notes, scrolls... Now i know that it's my fault for picking it all up in the first place, but alas, i still like the idea of having more than just gold coins.

If the different coins need to take up space too, so be it. I'll get a bag for them!

... I really should use bags more...

Considering you have an infinite number of slots in the inventory, whether or not currency takes up a slot doesn't make it more or less realistic.
I agree, it would be nice to see copper, silver, electrum, gold and platinum pieces all be a part of the game and added in a way that takes them out of the inventory space.

There is also Waterdeep's harbour moon, and Silverymoon's eclipse moon coins. Both worth 50gp a piece. Those are best for both weight and volume efficiency. And generally accepted anywhere in Faerun.
Additionally for adventures it's often worth hold and not monetize gems. As those can easily worth over hundred gp in equal value of weight and volume.
And finally there are bank bonds. Which is pretty much any sum of money equalized to single piece of paper. I know for fact that most Baldur's Gate banks use those.

Silver and copper has only ever seen use in the very very first levels in my tabletop games. It very very quickly becomes just about the gold, and sometimes about the gems. Just like it is here. I really don't need several decimal points of gold - and I think for PC games it's entirely correct to minimize inventory and weight clutter and micromanagement.
