Hi,

I dn't know if that has already been discussed but I absolutely don't understand the necrotic damages.

As soon as someone dies, everyone arround him take huge surface damage at every turns...
This is a non sense and it's boring. It's absolutely not RP, it's absolutely not D&D, it's absolutely nothing...

I suggest Larian just remove that and forget about it smile

Here is the poll :

Don't forget to vote so we'll have a clear overview of what the community think about it.

+1 or -1 ?

I think this falls under too many surface effects. Things that "make sense" for surface effects have them, but ultimately shouldn't per DnD design. This would be one of those.

There is one specific character that has a necrotic damage aura when they're dead, and there's a story reason for that.

It's only Gale, the Wizard of Waterdeep who has said effect.

It's Gale the Wizard companion.

And yeah, it's a bit extreme if he manages to die on you within range of your other companions, will likely TPK you if you're in a fight.

Oh sorry if that's only related to him.
I though I saw necrotic aura arround other dead characters but it looks I'm wrong.

I'll check. If I am wrong, this topic will die and our dear modo will lock it smile

OK, Gail has not died on me yet so I have not seen this yet. Does this get explained to us and I have just missed it?

Hey ! I though it was around several character too, but maybe because they were stacked around Gayle.
I was very surprised at it though, I was like ''uh , what is this, why?'' but if its for a lore reason, I understand.

You can use Gale's death to your advantage though, let him die in a narrow space between your party and the enemies and cast a difficult terrain. laugh

In short, he's a living reactor powered by the Weave, so if he doesn't devour artifacts he may detonate or turn into a massive black hole. It's embedded into him.

Owlbear kills Gale / Gale then kills Owlbear who somehow was too stupid to move away from the damage every turn.

It was not a plan or intentional.
