It feels kinda meh rolling a 20 on persuasion or intimidation etc. when all you needed was a 5 and you get the same outcome anyways.

How about adding criticals to those rolls?

For example i roll intimidation get a 20 and not only does it get me a success but i get let's say 20 gold on top because that person is so afraid of me. Or a stacking buff "menacing" adding +1 on my intimidation rolls for the rest of the day.

On critical failures you could get debuffs or lose health on top of the usual outcome

I agree with the sentiment. I'd like to see something like if you do roll a 20, then your next roll on a skill check has an advantage roll and vice versa.

That's not happening. They wanted to do that, but there are so many checks in the game that it's unreasonable to make permutations of them all. In this video, at 33:29:

You cannot get a Critical Success or Fail on Skill Checks, Saving Throws and the like if you follow D&D 5e RAW. Though it is a common house-rule I suppose..
