This is a must have to join a friends game. What is the plan for this? Items/levels/skills. Its too inconsistent to play with friends without this.

In previous games you had to go in, set up a party with the host, and then all (in the group) come back to it.

I would like to "join" other's gameplay with my own characters...but I don't think this was ever a thing in previous Larian games (please correct me if I'm wrong - and at that point I may just go back and play them more).

When you join a friend's game, you assume control of one of their characters. This, in fact, keeps that other game ENTIRELY consistent with itself, whereas joining with a different character could have an entirely inconsistent playthrough. Such as you murdered an origin, but the friend has them in their party.

Ok Stabby, thanks for adding your unintelligent opinion again. DAO allows you to do this, the BG games allowed this, POE allows this. You are again looking at the wrong side of this. There are safe guards that can protect origins characters so they don’t die, if your concern is being sabotaged. Again this is no different than starting a game with 2-4 people!!! Only one of you is really making the decisions at that point. The other 3 are party members that don’t have a bearing to the story in a practical sense. So if we can create a party with others, why can’t we replace an NPC with a player character? Please don’t give me your blanket “cause the game decisions” when I just showed you that you can already replace origins characters with player characters, if you start from the beginning. So the ability to export a character and dump them into the game at anytime isn’t that much more of a programming effort! The decisions made in the non-hosted game don’t count. You’re a mercenary at that point playing in your friends game. This is a question for Larian to answer, not for you to give the weakness excuse for.
