Hello. Just finished my first go as a dwarven fighter. So far I think the game is great. The feel of playing dnd is well-preserved and the game feels more grounded that the Original Sin titles, which I bounced off due to tone and pacing.

Anyways, I wanted to give some feedback on player movement and party lineup. I know pathfinding in the old Baldur's Gate games was pretty terrible, and I am glad that my party isnt getting stuck up on things too often on the current build, but I wish that I had some more control over the group as a whole while getting around. In the older games I was always using the right-click hold mechanic to set up the angle of my party while regularly changing the movement formation depending on party lineup and the dangers present wherever I was. It seemed the only options right now are for the other party characters to follow the "leader" character like magnets rather than them being given individual placement on the terrain relative to where the player selects for a move action. This created issues where my lead character would stumble into encounters with the rest of the party strewn in a line somewhere behind, oftentimes not even actively engaged in combat. I also found that navigating traps and dungeons was difficult when i couldnt chart the "landing zone" of multiple characters at once (separating them all and walking each through alone works, but is time consuming). Lastly, I used the number keys religiously in baldur's gate 1 and 2 to select individual party members to quickly issue commands while paused, and i think this would work great in turn-based mode as well, but instead all I keep doing is accidentally drinking potions instead of juggling my characters. This is something I would learn to live with, but all of these gripes could be changed to preserve more of that original baldur's gate feel, if you catch my drift.

Anyways, feel free to comment/agree/disagree and generally discuss party navigation. Anyone found a better way to jump the party down some mushrooms than one at a time? Maybe there are hotkeys I missed on that first playthrough....? Anyways I am going to go roll a new character. See ya!
