This thread is about non white people being depicted as orcs, kobolds, dwarves, drow, goblins etc etc etc that both Wotc and now Larian keep on doing.
If you could point out where these depictions start I would be very grateful.
For instance, orcs are closer to Germanic/northern European barbarians tribes\Vikings cultures and I see no resemblance in looks or culture to any other ethnicity other than white people....
Dwarfs, again, are closer to Welsh people (my native people) who tend to be short, drink a lot and love mining. I can't say us welsh love mining but we do love drinking so....
Elves from tolkens world had their language derived from the welsh and their culture was based on old druidic folklore if my memory servers (could be wrong) of which Gary Gygax, the creator of D&D took heavy inspiration
Kobolds bare no resemblance to any race other than some cross between lizards and dogs.
Please, enlighten me? As I can not seem to find any resemblance between the races of D&D and physical traits associated various human ethnicity.
