Ok, I go to the west room to get the wand and surprise! Samuel is there!? Well, he is level 38, I'm only 22 and can't do very much damage on him, let alone survive his attacks. My tactic so far was to use my magic hammer attck to stun him so he can't attck me. However, it does extremy little damage and I doubt I have enough mana potions on me to last the entire time it takes to kill him this way. Normally I'd simply go to the BF and level up, but until the next patch that is not an option.
So? Anyone he know a good tactic to beat him? Can I skip him? I don't want to have to wait for a new patch so I can level up in the BF.

Spoiler : Are you sure Samuel was level 38? For me he was level 41. OK, I took him down in less than 5 minutes. The key was to ignore his minions and just concentrate on him (you can kill the minions after he dies. You could kill the minions first, but it is really a waste of time and potions. I also figured more would come anyways). Make sure your crystal bag is full and have a Large Shadow one in there). You will need a lot of healing potions (I used 84, mostly small ones though). Use your stat increase potions 2 or 3 times during the game as well, and be very quick on the pause key. If you try to run out of the room to have some space to fight him he will just unleash a barrage of all kinds of spells on you (he did for me so I ran back in and whacked him).
Now if you think that you are going to run out, or very low, on potions you have a MAJOR problem... you cannot get any more, you cannot go to the BattleField (at least I kept getting the stuck in BattleField bug), and you will need probably 100 - 200 larger healing potions in the next battle.
Good Luck Spoiler :

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, he is level 38. My knight doesn't seem to hit him that much, nor do my summons, and none of my spells really do that much damage. His metor shower spell can kill me instantly so I've been keeping stunned with my hammer attack. I don't care if I can beat the last battle or not. I just want to get to it, I can wait for the BF fix to deal with that one.
Also, all those shadow creatures are killed instantly when I use my hammer spell, so they aren't a problem. Any idea what spell would do the most damage?

No idea on spells, sorry, I chose to go through as Melee first. I found the Dolls pretty useless, they die very fast and don't do much damage at all.
Normally in DD the spells that will work well on the highest level critters are Blind, Freeze, and HellSpike. If you remember the small room in DD where you are attacked by a gazillion Dwarves and a Black Ring boss, it was just Blind and Freeze the Boss and Hellspike the whole room for the win. I have not researched the BD spells though.
Good Luck

Well thanks for trying to help. However, I have just beaten Sammy and went on to finish the game!
I never saw THAT ending coming! That was an awsome twist, Spoiler : but it was hard fighting without my DK.
