The only dice rolls we get to see don't really feel all that great. I assume you are subtracting any bonuses from the target DC and just showing us a "dice roll" that we need to hit in order to get a desired outcome. The problem that I see is mainly the fact that there is no sense of progression or improvement. It seems totally random. I also don't know why the check is an 8 or a 18 to begin with. Do I have minuses I don't know about? Is the roll just a high DC? Are my bonuses even being added? Impossible to know. Part of the reward for having a +10 to a roll is seeing that +10.

I think it should be standard D&D affair to just show us the DC, make the roll, and show all our bonuses (as a single bonus or individually, option to choose?) next to the roll. Showing us our progression from +2 at first level to + 8 at 4th or 5th. Its more exciting to hit a DC 25 action than it is to just roll a 17 on the dice.

It feels bad to roll random numbers. It feels much better to roll "with +6".

I know the current method is "clean"... but it feels sterile and lifeless. More like gambling than making decisions based on skills and abilities.

In my humble opinion at least.
