To simply put, I think the game needs to create an auto-save after an encounter or before major dialog leading into a battle. Personally speaking, I didn't know there was about to be an unavoidable battle with a bunch of level 5 warriors who one shot each of my party members..... and the last time I saved was after saving someone from a burning building... It wasn't a lot of progress, I only saved 2 people and calmed down a bovine and gave a grieving widower some closure before looting a good amount of awesome stuff, and even camping to regain my spells after having to heal/put out fires. About an hour went by between the moment I saved and the time I died.

At the very least, I think that when you take a long rest, there should be an auto-save before you sleep.

I'm only slightly incredibly salty.

Not disagreeing with you, but probably a low priority implementation right now.

Throughout early access as they are constantly patching the game, and bugs will be prevalent, it is highly encouraged that you becomes very familiar with F5.

At least whenever you enter a new area or something.
I've gotten a bad case of F5 syndrom from playing BG3ea, between crashes and having my ass handed to me, always press F5 whenever something has happened.

I understand it's in EA, and that it's low priority, that's why this is a suggestion for the game in general not an immediate necessity.

I don't mind it, as long as they keep auto-save optional. But for now auto-save triggers only at certain points, you must use at least F5 to manual save, though full saves (ESC > Save, New Save) are best because they won't be overwritten.

I just create manual saves at every major point, and the F5 quick saves are for between those. When auto-save was also on, just made the game lag when suddenly started to save without warning. Also both auto and quick save has less descriptive names, hard to guess where those were made, manual save is best.

Autosave when arriving at the camp would be nice.. Or upon resting.. I try and save a lot, especially when playing early release.. crashes are common place.. but.. once it is in full release, extra autosaves would be good..
