Currently when lockpicking, we get this 'bar' and can't make out how difficult the lock is to pick. Why not give us a roll, like when disarming traps? (seems to work nicely there) The 'bar' thing is DOS2, we NEED a roll for lockpicking.
Also, I shouldn't be able to pick a 'lock' in bunch of rocks blocking an entrance (referring to the rocks in front of the dragon's lair in the grove). Maybe a STR (Athletics) check would fit better here?
I also think thieve's tools should not be used up when you succceed on lockpicking, but only when you fail (due to the lockpick breaking).

I don't remember needing consumables for lockpicking or disarming traps in the old games at all, you just needed a thief ( Or any class that is allowed to have proficiency in the skill according to the ruleset ). A feature that no one needs for any reason other than cluttering the inventory with even more crap, specially if they are going to abuse placing a million explosive traps all over again. It's not gonna be fun disarming one by one either. And there also lies the problem with having rolls for disarming traps. Imagine if it's 200 mines. That's why these traps should be very well thought out.

I don't have a problem with needing thieve's tools for lockpicking, since that is also my DnD 5e experience and I think it makes sense.
