This seems like it would be simple to implement, and gives a character something to do if they can't reach a target (I had an entangled Wyll yesterday who couldn't use his action).

Yes please, hopefully this is planned. Dodge is underrated in 5E and makes perfect sense in a CRPG

Okay, here's how it went down:


THE SCENE - LARIAN STUDIOS BOARDROOM

Swen: Hey guys, I really want you to get that DIP ability I came up with into the game ASAP!

Dev Lackey 1: Yeah, sounds great, we love it! Can't wait!

Dev Lackey 2: Um . . . there is kinda one problem, sir.

Swen: What problem? I'm sweating my ass off in all this plate armor, I don't have time for your "problem". Make it work!

Dev Lackey 2: Yeah, but, see . . . there's no room for the ability in the UI we designed. We only have room for 8 default actions on the left bar, and they're all used.

Dev Lackey 1: *looks nervous*

Swen: So just get rid of something! DIP must take priority!

Dev Lackey 1: We . . . we could . . . get rid of Shove? It's honestly pretty overpo-

Swen: WHAT? Do you even value your employment here at all?

Dev Lackey 2: *laughs in a forced and unconvincing manner* Yeah, that's . . . ridiculous. Let's just drop Dodge. Who even uses that?

Swen: *taps on his shiny steel breastplate that he is literally wearing in real life* Not me, that's for sure. Good idea! No one will miss Dodge, when they see how great DIP is!



And the rest . . . is history.


(This is meant all in good fun. I support Larian Studios completely, and Swen Vincke is one of my favorite people in the entire games industry.)
