An extremely well written and thorough review came out in this publication a few days ago - Larian may have missed it since it isn't mentioned in one of their "good news" threads.

The score was 91% and many nice things were said.

Lyn already promoted it under "Two more rave reviews," in the Announcements section.

<curse!> I should have looked further back. Still, it is a great review and I don't feel too bad about screwing up and mentioning it again.

How the heck did BD rate a 91%?! I'm sorry to be rude, but this game is clearly unfinished -- do game magazines just look at the pretty pictures on the sides of the box and write reviews based on that?

You will rue the day you opposed me! Begin your rueing! I'll just... sit over here... and watch.

I guess they may have just liked it better than you did....?

ROFL Womble... that was seriously funny

Almost every review clearly stated that there were some serious problems with the game, but that they were fixable. If you stand back and look at the whole game in general, it is brilliant (ergo the high marks from all reputable review sorces).

Larian is doing their damndest to satisfy it's customers. If you were one of the people who bought the game Might & Magic IX (could have been a brilliant game if they were allowed to finish it) you might remember the response on their messageboard when asked when the game would get a seriously needed patch... they simply said there would not be one, and there wasn't.

Correct - and this is why I had to uninstall MM9 shortly before the end - had a hanging cut scene in the sauna and could not proceed. My first unfinished MM

Kiya...

omg, you were just getting to the final battle... The problem with the cut scene was self-imposed... you must have consciously or unconsciously hit pause mode which triggers that cut-scene hangup... btw I finished M&M9 in something like 8 game days, figure that one out

No, it was the German version... it was really a hanging cut scene, I read that in German mags at that time Was not my only one in the game - but at the end it got worse and worse. We only had a patch for keyboard commands.

I thought the review was one of the most insightful and clever I have ever seen on any game in 25 years. I might add the reviewer is very handsome, even for an old codger, and contributes to several charities. He is to be commended for exposing his unassailable opinion to the Beyond Divinity forums.

Sorry about that. Enjoyed reading these comments on my review, good or bad. I actually finished the game with a review copy and no patches, with very few bugs of substance, except, of course, the empty Level 2 Act 1 dungeon.

I took all sorts of factors into account to reach my review score of 80%...but if our scoring was simply based on the "reviewers tilt", I would have scored around 90%. I just plain enjoyed it.

so there we go! 2 reviewers from respected sites RPGdot & JustRPG have spoken. they like despite the existing problems.

of course, buggy games shouldn't be fun, according to logic. but then has to break the mold.

HA! I knew it! That's the last time I listen to the crap spouted round here by the nay-sayers. I may fire the game back up now. Cheers man!
