In my humble opinion fight mechanics of D&D 5e translate quite poorly to PC. Without face-to-face interaction, POV limited to one character and rolling dice it turns into playing chess with AI and randomly generated numbers, and I think that's not where the fun is in D&D. BUT, since damage is already showed as "d10" instead of "1-10" in D&D spirit, option to cast dice during all tests would greatly improve expierience. Eg. dialogue with nature test? Instead of clicking LMB and being given randomly generated number in shape of a whirling dice, you can grab dice on screen and toss them. Cheap option could be just non-interactive animation. Same thing could be implemented to fight. At the moment it is as stiff as they come, so tossing dice woudn't hurt pace much but could increase D&D feeling. Ideally dice in fight could be tossed without pause or separate screen, as 3D models bouncing off models. Of course everything should be able to turn off/on in setting menu. What you think?

On your opening statement. I would say the best suggestion is to no play. POV is over head at an angle, not very limited to one character. It is focused on the one you have selected.

You would be in a very small minority of people wanting to roll the dice manually for each roll.

I disagree, in fact i think the dice animation could be shorter.

I do understand though the thing about just getting a message telling if you have failed seems kinda dull, but just a small one second animation on the corner of the screen would do the trick

I'm fond of the quick auto dice animations. I think it would be cool to have more of them and in more variety, keep the gameplay quick and refreshing.

For example (off to the side of the screen)
in sync with attack animations, have a d20 & damage dice roll while showing the bonus from proficiency and modifiers. The player would have the option of focusing on the dice or combat animation.

This could also help new players understand how modifiers impact the game.

I'd like to see the dice roll; I'd also like it to not take up time in the flow of the game or slow things down. These two options are not in conflict, and the game could and should absolutely do this; making it optional would, naturally, be ideal.

At the risk of again referencing a different game that does this well, I will reference the other contemporary early access game being made by a smaller studio that does indeed do this well...
