Is there any information about an Iron man mode? I would like to have this please!

For those who do not know what Iron man mode is: one save and only saves when you leave the game.

Following the previous question. Will there be an option for more than 4 players in a single and multiplayer group? I do not care about having a ton of special companion characters with their own special stories/cut scenes. After I finish the special character stories, the other play through characters will be custom. However I do want the option of having the game on iron man mode , then on the most difficult setting and playing tactically. DOS 2 had a mod for more than 4 players, so no big deal.

But I would like the option like XCOM to spend some type of points to unlock 5 and 6 character slots or just have that option in options smile

Thank you!

4 players only.

However you dont need a healer or a rogue for heals / traps / locks, so you can play with any 4 characters, one just needs to be Dex based for sleight of hand. Food / Potions for healing.

O_o

There is no player limit in 5th edition.

Anyway, Swen mentioned an Iron Man mode being in the works for the future. They intentionally made the UI as such that the party size can be expanded through mods. This probably won’t increase the player cap for multiplayer unless somebody gets private servers to host the game running.

Seriously people like you were previously saying it was 4 because of tabletop rules!

Make up your minds!

I’m here all the time and I’ve never seen anybody say that.

5E official campaigns are usually balanced around 4 players, but there is no limit. The reason why Larian went with 4 is because they said they felt that number was easier to manage for the player and to balance encounters around.

Oh, I think what you are confusing is that people were saying that the 4 character limit in BG3 isn’t a big deal because the flexibility of 5th edition rules allows for more aberrant party compositions. Maybe that is what you are thinking of.

Which means ANY number, 6, 12, or 2 comes under the "house rules" thing.

why do we need classes then at all?

What's the point of balanced party?

4 mages and lets go.

This is getting worse and worse...

So what if you want to play with 4 mages?

I already played through BG2 with 6 mages once.

Mods in their DOS games added in 6 player, so fair chance that will happen here.
I actually like to go the other way Lone Wolf, we'll see on that. If they don't do it, there will be a mod if modding tools are released, that was a common mod in the other two games, but the game had some Lone Wolf already built into it.

A lot of fun can be had with random party composition. You can come up with really interesting ways to get through situations. A 4 mage party sounds great to me. Nothing stopping anyone from having a "balanced" party but forcing everyone to do this takes out a lot of the replay value.

Iron man is easy right now: just be an iron man and don't save it (and pray there won't be a bug or crash or power failure)

I would like 6 man party, because now I can have just 4 classes max in a party, obviously, which isn't nice. At goblin camp last time I had 3 rows of character portraits, my party outnumbered about 1:3, then my Wizard fallen asleep, and had to wait until each goblin decided what to do. Can't say it's balanced around 4 or anything. But then with this party UI being as it is, maybe it's better to have smaller party, I wish I had just 1 character instead, no more drag those chains around.

Ironman mode and party of 6 kind of counter each other though. You can go ironman in early access already. You authorize yourself to have only one save, overwriting each time. And then you go solo or with a party of 2 on your adventure. No need to wait for Larian to do anything really.
