In BG, traps have always been important. However, you were bound to miss some, and you were punished by taking damage. It was enough of an annoyance that you did what you could to find and disable traps.

In BG3, it seems like the traps result in instant death, or even a TPK. Traps shouldn't force me to reload my game or make me save scum when I want to click on a container.

Hope the formatting worked...(otherwise https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/0227_UATraps.pdf pg 5)

Pretty much all of the traps are AoE and/or dots. The traps in Ethel's water have a good chance of killing you if you dont heal from the bleed. The flowers buried on the path to her will TPK on ignition in poison or take 25% of your live each time. I would say they typically are "dangerous" but the fact its most of the party, most of the time puts them into deadly. DMing your point of traps is to whittle away resources before getting them to something. You are trying to not trigger the "we need a long rest" response. You WANT them going in weak. If I was taking 5 damage here and then from things, Id eat apples, take a pot, healing word, etc...and over time I wont have any more apples. only 2 level 1 spells guys, just go in 22/28 hp, youre still looking healthy.

Right now I hit those and either reload or go to camp lol

What is the problem you are solving? Does your proposed change solve the problem? Is your change feasible? What else will be affected by your change? Will your change impact revenue? Does your change align with the goals and strategies of the organizations (Larian, WotC)?

Damn the traps at Ethel's! I hate going there only because of them

Larian's Biggest Oversight, what to do about it, and My personal review of BG3 EA
"74.85% of you stood with the Tieflings, and 25.15% of you sided with Minthara. Good outweighs evil, it seems."
