Doesn't water clear fire, and fire clears poison/toxic fog on flooring?

I am going to be sort of vague here, so I apologize in advance. I killed people wearing mask of terror and mask of vengeance etc in a cave behind a gnarled door that is behind a fireplace.

After you beat them there are several toxic/poison pools you need to walk by but they do a significant amount of damage. I tried lighting them with fire and it explodes and burns, but then comes back to poison/toxic. I am not sure if that is expected behavior.

I did see a flower using perception and after I use the flower nothing happened. I attacked it which set of an explosion with the toxic/poison, but again it just comes back afterwards.

I am really sorry, I cannot remember the name of the area/cabin/enemies, but I think the gnarled door and fireplace should give away the location to anyone that has been there.

I don't mind getting a spoiler or a hint. I just want to know if it sounds like the pools are working as designed or something I have done should have gotten rid of them permanently by now.

Thanks,

I'm not sure, but try looking for vents, or some such on the floor, and covering them with some kind of container. I may not even be close, and it may be that they're meant to be there, but maybe? It's a mechanic that is in game, as I used it in the first temple to stop the floor from getting all greasy and blowing me up.

Blighted Bog --> Teahouse

in the Fog is a crevice where the poison comes out

What I did is I set it on fire and just ran through the fire... aside from the first two parts straight forward they just re-ignite automatically anyways.

So I ended up finding the little pressure pads that just need something on them to turn the poison off. I guess they could be just vents like RobertTheBard mentioned.

I just used the gear I had in my inventory and threw them on the pads. Someone in Steam beat you guys to it, but I do appreciate the feedback smile
